Additional information

Having available for the first time, from an earlier study, experimental data on the first phase of nanoparticle dispersion from ground vehicles, this paper set the foundation for developing reliable mathematical models. Through laboratory experiments in controlled conditions the study evidenced the inadequacies of current mathematical approaches, especially as far as turbulence and pollutant dispersion characterisation is concerned. A new modelling framework is then proposed for future developments. A preliminary evaluation of this approach gave encouraging results, and possible improvements are discussed and recommended.
