Additional information

Policy-makers are now becoming aware of the rebound effect. However, until publication of this paper, its magnitude was unknown for the key household energy-efficiency actions at the heart of the UK’s carbon reduction strategy. The study is applicable to other countries, and is gaining wide interest from international policy-makers. Indications of interest include an invitation to attend the International Energy Agency’s Roundtable on Macroeconomic and Employment Impacts of Energy Efficiency (January 2012), and an invited presentation at Ecobuild (March 2013) - Ecobuild is arguably the biggest event in the world for sustainable design, construction and the built environment.
