Additional information

Scale-up of high shear granulation process is an art; highly based on empirical approaches, requiring extensive usage of feed materials, and excessive process development time. This papers reports on the development of an integrated engineering science based approach by experimental and modelling work to define the scale-up rules for high shear granulation leading to favourable granules properties. The research was sponsored by EPSRC and four industrial partners (Hosowaka, Pfizer, P&G, Borax) in form a consortium. The outcome, rated as outstanding by the EPSRC reviewers, has helped the relevant industries in minimising extensive effort for the scale-up of their granulation processes.
