Presented is the first video-rate (>100fps) CMOS avalanche diode based Fluorescence Lifetime IMaging (FLIM) camera, achieved by integrating a high-speed image processor onto a programmable chip. The camera shows real-time images of DNA microarrays incubated with the hepatitis C virus and human cytomegalovirus probes at very low concentration (~nM). The camera has been adopted by the leading cellular imaging researchers to study GTPase activity during cell motility.
