Theory after 'Theory'
Elliott is listed as the first editor on this volume (out of alphabetical order) because she conceived the conference on which this volume is based and performed the majority of the research in assembling the list of potential contributors to the volume. In particular, she identified several contributors whose work was unknown to her co-editor, including Cavarero, Cherniavsky, Dubreuil, Esposito, Povinelli, Thacker and Wolfe. She wrote the complete first draft of the introduction and designed the organization of the volume. She located and contracted translators for the essays that were received in French and Italian. Her co-editor, Derek Attridge, was instrumental in providing contacts and guidance and in contributing to the editing of the essays themselves, but Elliott performed the bulk of the conceptual editorial duties.
