The Poetic Enlightenment : Poetry and Human Science, 1650-1820
This volume grew out of three international workshops held in 2010-11, one of which Boyson attended in St. Andrews, and one of which he organised in Cambridge. As co-editor with Tom Jones from St. Andrews, Boyson was involved in gaining a contract to publish the book and deciding on its structure (especially the commissioning of section forewords from leading scholars). He offered substantive editorial comments on all the chapters in the volume and took responsibility for copy-editing half of the submissions. The introduction was entirely co-written, with each of the two editors working on sections then passing the whole document between themselves repeatedly. It included some research developed in his review-essay for Studies in Romanticism of a recent book on Romantic anthropology. His own chapter benefited from feedback from leading Shaftesbury scholars including Laurent Jaffro and Lawrence Klein.
