Additional information

Based on our original work on nonlinear modelling of spatial multi-beam modules, this paper is one of our pioneering publications on design and modelling of large-range high-precision manipulators based on flexures. The paper established a general approach to the conceptual design and an efficient approach to the modelling and design of two-axis large-range high-precision manipulators with spatial compliant modules. Comments from Prof Xu (University of Macao, China) (DOI: 10.1109/TIE.2013.2257139) include that the “compound parallelogram flexures (CPFs) were employed to design compliant XY stages with centimetre ranges [31], [35]” (Note: [35] is this paper).
