Additional information

This paper is the first to propose a novel topology for grid-connected inverters, namely interleaved topology. The experimental results showed that this topology can reduce the size of inverters by up to 50% compared to the widely used classical two-level inverters. The design presented in the paper is currently adopted and produced commercially by Bowman Power Group in Southampton, UK. The conference version of the paper was recognised in the IEEE ISIE 2010 conference in Bari, Italy for its excellence and the authors were invited to submit a journal version to the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics.
