Additional information

This was an output of a TSB/EPSRC project with Simaria as lead reseracher and Farid as PI. The research focused on identifying more cost-effective purification processes for next generation biopharmaceuticals. Simaria devised advanced combinatorial optimisation techniques and linked them to process models from the Decisional Tools impact case study to effectively search large decision spaces whilst rationalising multiple conflicting targets. This has led to the collaborators, Medimmune, sponsoring a joint £0.7M Centre of Excellence (Dr Richard Turner, TurnerRi@medimmune.com). This work also underpinned the award of a new £4.9M EPSRC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Emergent Macromolecular Therapies.
