Additional information

<05> This is the first time that piggybacking, a previously existing mechanism, has been utilized for bandwidth requests to reduce signaling overhead and delay. This research provided a solid foundation for our later success on resource allocation algorithms and heterogeneous networks. It also helped secure an EU FP7 Project EVANS in which 802.16 network virtualization was a key aspect.
