Additional information

Sears was the lead editor for this project. He produced his own chapter on Written Space in Africa and a co-authored introduction. In addition he was a co-organiser of the session at the Roman Archaeology Conference in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2009 that brought together the core of the contributors. Sears was a driving force behind getting the contributors to engage successfully with the theme of the volume as well as keeping the project on time, being the primary contact with the press, translating a French contribution and contributing to the editing of all of the papers.
