Double-weighted statement

The research and writing of Jimmy McGovern (2013) involved the collection and analysis of a considerable body of material in order to present a critical insight not only into his own work, but also into key changes in British television over the last thirty years. The book draws on especially extensive primary and secondary sources, some of which are difficult to access (e.g. McGovern's early single dramas for the BBC which are only available at the BFI). This is the first extensive analysis of McGovern and a rare example of any academic writing at all on this important television screenwriter.
