Significance of output:

Mesoporous and visible-light-responsive N-doped TiO2 (TiO2-xNx) is highly desired for solar energy conversion, but facing great challenges in synthesis due to the mesopores collapse in the subsequent thermal treatments. This article disclosed a facile synthesis methodology to synthesise the TiO2-xNx whose mesoporosity maintained up to 450 oC. The methodology owns great potential for recovering the organic solvent to reduce environment impact. More importantly, this synthesis facilitates using the materials in solar energy harvesting for both photocatalytic environment remediation and fabrication of solar cells. The contribution of dopant and structural vacancies were rated through correlating specific activity and corresponding properties.
