GAMLSS: Generalised Additive Models for Location Scale and Shape, The library for fitting GAMLSS models, available in CRAN, http://www.r‐project.org.
The gamlss package in R was first created in 2004 but in response to users demand and new theoretical developments has different up dates since then. In particular during the current REF assessment years, the following were
added: i) several new distributions, ii) generation of log and
logit distribution from existing distributions, iii) new strategies
for the selection of explanatory terms, iv) automatic
selection of the smoothing parameters, v) improvement in
reporting standard errors (including robust ones) and vi)
additional diagnostics facilities vii) new additive terms viii)
lms() function for centile estimation ix) time series facilities.
The software is used worldwide resulting to increasing
number of citations, number of enquires and numerous hits
in the gamlss website (around 9500 in the last year). The
gamlss software has been used in different applied scientific
fields including: actuarial science, biology, biosciences, energy economic, genomics, finance, fisheries, food consumption, growth curves estimation, marine research, medicine, meteorology, rainfalls, vaccines, risk management
