Double-weighted statement

Art and the City resulted from an extensive period of research entailing a protracted period of fieldwork that enabled both attendance at essential but rare international art events, including the decennial Münster Sculpture Projects, and an on-going responsiveness to contemporary events: urban performance interventions and installations occurring in several European cities. The research process involved a practice-based method of immersion and encounter, requiring extended periods spent walking in urban locations to gather data towards interrogating the spatial tension between public artworks, city and spectator that forms the original structural composition and critical insights found in the book.
