Don’t Look Now - A touring retrospective exhibition in three parts
A solo touring retrospective of Lothar Götz’s work from the last 20 years with new pieces made specifically for the exhibition. Each of the three venues focussed on a different aspect of Götz’s practice, and in each venue new works were made: Remscheid (27.03 – 29.05 2011) concentrated on his early works and drawings; Wilhelmshaven (04.06 – 21.08 2011) on the documentation and exploration of public art projects Götz has realized internationally within the last ten years; and Wolfsburg (21.04 – 09.09 2012) on his wall painting practice. The new pieces made include the site-specific works, Zimmer fur Bernhard Landauer – Spielzimmer, (2011), Empfang mit Blickauf den Wannsee (2011), Flucht in den Norden, (2011) all site specific gallery works. Canon (2010) site-specific public work. Ohne Titel I – IV, (2010) works on paper. Ohne Titel from the series Rome (2010)
The new pieces made for each exhibition responded to that history and the shifts and changes in his own practice.
The touring exhibition is accompanied by a comprehensive catalogue ‘with 232 pages, illustrating examples of work of the last 20 year and texts by 4 internationally renowned writers/critics, published in hard cover by Hatje Cantz (2011) ISBN 978-3-7757-3002-0.
Some of the works are referenced in Marta Herford’s book Visions. An Atmosphere of Change (pub. 2013, Hatje Cantz).
