Additional information

This paper describes an advanced road classification methodology which is integrated into a novel modelling framework to simulate and assess the frequency distributions of personal exposure to roadside pollution from traffic. The work identified a number of policy implications and generated new ways of thinking that help develop best practices for urban traffic and air quality management. The proposed objectives were successfully achieved and a follow-on project also funded by the Department of Health was awarded to the same consortium (RG.TRAN.475847).
