Additional information

<03>Any software or communications change can be costly, e.g. impacting many suppliers in automotive systems. Task allocation (the mapping of software to processors and messages to networks) is sensitive to change and hence expensive to maintain. Section 4 proposes an effective search mechanism and section 5 a means to evaluate sensitivity to change. Based on this, a member of Virtual Vehicle Laboratory (in Graz who work with companies, e.g. Audi) visited York and Iain Bate visited them. This resulted in three papers, a book chapter, partnership in an EU grant (SafeCer), a patent application, and links with their industrial partners.
