Additional information

<31> This work is a culmination of many years of our research into the theories that underpin software engineers' motivation. It couches the factors that affect software engineers' motivation into classic motivation theory, thereby bringing together the two fields of Psychology and Software Engineering. The work itself has served as a basis for further work by Franca et al (2011) in the Centre for Informatics in Cidade Universitária, Brazil, on software engineers' motivation. The work was supported by the UK’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council under grant number EP/D057272/1.
