Additional information

<28> The global population aged >65 is estimated to reach 2 billion by 2050. This sets challenges to health services and policies, and imposes a significant financial and social burden. The decline in the musculoskeletal system is the biggest cause of injury in older people, and the demand for physiotherapists outstrips current supply. This paper describes an innovative approach, combining screening risk assessment with a case-based reasoning system. This approach can address the shortage of physiotherapists, and significantly improve the healthcare of older people. This is part of wider research by the authors on assisted living systems, with several publications.
