Additional information
<26> Dynamically distributing virtual humans in a simulation of large urban scenes is computationally expensive and memory hungry. We describe two methods that are optimised for both memory usage and computational performance, allowing simulation at interactive frame rates. Furthermore, varying the population does not disturb the movement of the virtual humans, and the correlation between the actual and predicted dynamics is high. This was selected as one of the best papers presented at the Computer Animation and Social Agents conference, 2008, and has formed the basis of the EPSRC Crowd Rendering award (EP/E035639/1) .
