This work produced a PhD thesis and led us to develop an intelligent workflow planner that has now applications in industry. A Knowledge Transfer partnership (KTP No. 8832) with XAD communications Bristol has been setup which exploits the concepts to produce an efficient stream processing framework for video surveillance. The company is now commercialising the software for security, surveillance and law enforcement agencies. A follow up project has been funded from the EPSRC IT as a Utility (ITaaU, University of Southampton, Research Council UK) initiative to produce ‘Video Analytics as a Service’.
