Additional information

<28>This paper was first to note the coordinated nature of a transcriptome in a biological process. In particular, this showed that functionally similar groups of genes, rather than individual genes, were implicated in performing specific tasks over a time-series, with specific periods when they are activated and then de-activated. The process itself (first stage leaf development in plants) is a key developmental step which has significant consequences for crop plants. This and related work was presented at ECCB 2008, SEB 2009 and CCC 2009. Invited seminars on this were presented at UCL, Imperial College, Brunel, Glasgow University.
