Additional information

This study extended the newly-developed SBFEM to model mixed-mode crack propagation subjected to transient dynamic loadings. It represents a key research finding from Yang's EPSRC First Grant(EP/F00656X/1, £266k). The results were presented as a Keynote in 2010 International Conference on Computational Methods, China, and have directly led to a prestigious 2011 Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers awarded to Yang. An extension to dynamic nonlinear cohesive fracture modelling has been published on a special issue on Fatigue and Fracture of Engineering Materials and Structures (2012, 35(8):786-800), with Yang as the invited Guest Editor.
