Additional information

First published study of this kind bringing together the study of non-linear track features within a vehicle dynamics simulations environment in curving conditions. It allowed the quantification of the effect of sleeper void on the increased forces in railway track elements and bending stresses in rails to provide a scientific basis to existing standards on the number of voided sleepers allowed on railway track.
