A label-free aptasensor for the sensitive and specific detection of cocaine using supramolecular aptamer fragments/target complex by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy
A highly sensitive impedance based biosensor for cocaine based on the use of aptamer fragments has been described. The sensor with its optimized sensing surface showed a 5 fold greater sensitivity and a 100 fold lower limit of detection than impedimetric cocaine sensors based on the same supramolecular aptamer fragments/substrate complex described previously. This work represents the start of a new collaboration between the groups of Krause at QMUL and Y Zhou at Peking University and has already led to the exchange of samples, mutual visits and a joint grant application to the Royal Society.
