Additional information

The vast majority of digital images are colorimetric (this means that they are defined by three colours - usually red, green and blue - at each pixel). Spectral images are potentially more useful but take up a great deal more storage (computer memory) because a full colour spectrum is stored at every pixel. In this collaboration with Dr Chen (an ex-PhD student of Westland's who is now an Associate Professor in China) a novel method of efficiently storing the spectral data whilst ensuring that the coloriemtric data is fully preserved is presented.
