Additional information

One of the most complex and technically challenging aspects of nonwoven fabric design is the characterisation of internal fibre entanglement. Under the direction of Russell a new methodology is described for the first time that enables the direct analysis of nonwoven assemblies. Based on this development it has become possible to quantify fibre entanglement in different fabric structures. This study will make a significant contribution to the growing market penetration of nonwoven fabrics into various textile and apparel sectors.
