Additional information

Fabric drape measurement has been studied by many researchers since the 1930s. In this paper we took the approach (an idea by Cassidy) that flat fabric drape measurement is not an accurate reflection of fabric drape on a garment. We therefore suggested and tested an alternative method whereby garments are made up from the fabrics being tested, suspended on a mannequin and then images are captured from underneath the garment from which, using image analysis, we can measure parameters such as degree of circularity, node size and amount. This was carried out for a wide range of fabric types.
