Additional information

Presented from the perspective of a fine artist, this contribution focuses on the interface between the experiences of a first-generation German Jewish refugee who settled in Britain in the 1930s and her daughter’s (the author) engagement with her family history and position as a British-born diasporic subject. The article builds on the medium of landscape painting and the artist’s visits to places in Germany. The article also provides an overview of other second-generation fine artists working in Britain today.
