Double-weighted statement

A History of Renaissance Rhetoric 1380-1620 is the first comprehensive history of renaissance rhetoric because it has previously appeared that number of primary texts in the subject was too large and too little known for comprehensive study. This book represents the culmination of around 30 years of research by Peter Mack. Writing the book involved reading more than 400 primary texts, most of them in Latin, many of them of several hundred pages long and without previous modern studies. Accessing copies of these texts required visits to continental Europe and the USA, as well as to Oxford and London.
