Additional information

<19> This paper defined, for the first time, a framework guiding the design of image recognition CAPTCHAs, a topic for which there was mostly only ad hoc studies before. Some fundamental design principles, which are applicable to image recognition CAPTCHAs and the most widely deployed text CAPTCHAs, are also established in this paper. All these lead to a novel design, Cortcha, which represents the current state of the art of image recognition CAPTCHA.
