Assessment of cumulative sound exposure levels for marine piling events.
This work resulted from continuing international collaboration between Loughborough, the National Physical Laboratory and TNO in the Netherlands (co-authors) on the impacts of construction and operation of offshore renewables on the hearing responses of marine species. The work is responsible for underpinning continued success in securing funding (NERC £457K, Scottish government £136K and industry £25K). This study has had significant international academic impact with 8 invited papers given in UK, Germany and USA {chair mardi.hastings@me.gatech.edu} and membership of international standard groups ISO TC43-3-WG3 and BSI EH/001/07 and the Sound Forum a sub-committee of the UK Government’s Marine Science Co-ordination Committee.
