Additional information

Novel results were obtained in the area of analytical modelling of the dynamics of a piezoelectric sandwich plate considering shear forces (SF). The work took into account time variant damping, significant for civil and aerospace engineering, which has never been done before due to mathematical difficulties. These difficulties could not be resolved even by applying numerical or finite element (FE) software but were resolved here applying the novel analytical WKB–Galerkin method. The obtained closed-form solution can describe a variety of dynamic processes within milliseconds without the need for re-meshing typical for FE.
