Reactive power redispatch for loss reduction using a modified power flow jacobian
Resulting from a joint research programme with Prof Zambroni [zambroni@unifei.edu.br] of the Federal University of Itajubá, and supported by the Brazilian Government [Ref.300186/2008-8, £27k, 2009-2012; renewed Ref.301313/2011-3, £36k, 2012-2016] with CAPES/FAPEMIG (Brazilian research foundation) this paper proposes a novel modification of a method developed by the author at Strathclyde, which allows fast computation for re-dispatching reactive power for loss reduction in a critical area with potential for voltage collapse. The speed gain is at the expense of reaching a sub-optimal operating point. The method has been implemented by computer simulation on a real Brazilian ‘107 power-bus’ system.
