A control Strategy for Upper Limb Robotic Rehabilitation With a Dual robot System
A unique and world leading approach to upper-limb rehabilitation that supports the shoulder, preventing damage likely with all other devices. Results demonstrate controller reliability to deliver safe and coordinated upper-limb movements in stroke patients. Published in the highest impact Mechatronics journal. The work won a 2008 innovation award from NHS (http://www.medipex.co.uk/events/nhs-innovation-awards-past-winners-finalists/nhs-innovation-awards-2008-winners/), and an international graphical system design award 2009 from National Instruments (www.ni.com/pdf/citizenship/en/report2009.pdf). Successful in obtaining £684K follow on funds to for initial clinical trials (NIHR HTD 475). Dr Peter Culmer obtained prestigious Senior Translational Research Fellow post at University of Leeds, 2011 as result of this work. .
