Additional information

The paper is from an international collaboration between the UK (Hertfordshire), India and Italy funded under FP6 and describes a new method for producing copper-matrix composites. This is the first publication using self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) by igniting the reaction in a molten metal bath. In the early 1990s, the UH author published the first ever papers on in-situ production of copper-matrix composites and this is a follow up of that work. This new methodology has been adopted in two recent publications since by researchers from China.
