Additional information

•First time stereoscopic-3D visualization (S3D) was proposed on mobile robot teleguide to improve performance, and assessed on 7 S3D setups including high-end VR systems (large Panorama, 6-sided CAVE) and portable devices (laptop and HMD-helmets).

•The paper is based on collaboration between 4 universities in 3 European countries.

•Major relevance for telerobotic system designers because it provides an unprecedented benchmark.

•Led to further research (subsequent IEEE journal publications based on this achievement).

•World leader ST-Microelectronics (st.com) showed interest after this publication and a 5-year placement contract was setup with University of Hertfordshire, (Ref. senior industrialist Dr. Daniele Caltabiano).
