Additional information

For this output we would like the panel to consider together both the co-edited introduction and the chapter entitled ‘Personal Identity and Transsexual narratives.’ Both pieces derived from a research process exploring the relationship between bodies and selves which originated in trying to make sense of the body dysphoria experienced by transsexual people, without resorting to a Cartesian inner subjectivity. In theorising this relation attention is given to both the materiality of the body and its expressive function within a social context; and this theme governed the choice of papers in the volume.
