Double-weighted statement

This output is the first book-length study of a neglected field of enquiry, the narratives of conspiracy in late seventeenth-century France. It presents an in-depth study of a dozen texts (pp. 233-600), which, due to their ambivalent status in neo-classical French literature, required the elaboration of complex modes of reading to understand their significance, especially in terms of genre, political thought and aesthetics. In order to do so, the corpus studied is set in the wider context of early-modern historical, political and literary cultures (pp. 17-232), which involved the collection and analysis of approximately 300 primary sources (listed pp. 608-630).
