Tackles the challenging issue of temperature stability of silicon photonic devices. Paper describes the design, fabrication and characterisation of temperature-insensitive strip SOI resonators to examine the effects of various structures on the temperature dependence wavelength shift (TDWS) achieving a best performance of 0.2 pm/K at 1550 nm. In this work we have achieved record low values of TDWS. The SOI resonators described serve as potential future building blocks for novel SOI based photonic circuits and were demonstrated as part of the EPSRC £2.1M Silicon Photonics grant (EP/F001428/1) headed by Prof. Graham Reed.
