Additional information

The commercial satellite imaging market is on the rise because of the growth of imaging websites such as Google Earth. Analysis by Forecast International, states that in 2021 this market should be worth $17 billion. This is the first methodical study to investigate the origin of permanent deformations and quantify the effects produced by vibration of optical structures for space applications. The impact of this work is lowering the cost of high resolution space cameras which is of direct and significant benefit to UK space companies such as SSTL and Astrium.
