Additional information

IEEE 802.11p standard is the latest technology for short range car-to-car and car-to-infrastructure communications. This standard extends the enhanced distributed channel access (EDCA) mechanism used in earlier 802.11 series. This paper provides an analytical model for performance analysis of the Medium Access Control (MAC) sub-layer of the IEEE802.11p standard which helps to analyze different practical performance metrics such as throughput and communication delay. The paper presents extensive results that validate the proposed mathematical models. The results have been highly regarded and cited by the peer reviewers for the significant academic impacts on studying of MAC layer for vehicular networks.
