Additional information

This paper describes the first quantified study of the synergistic potential of zinc stannate in combination with non-halogen-based flame retardants in a melt-processed aliphatic polyamide (PA6). Conventional flame retardant systems in PA6 are often halogen-based and so the work offers the potential for development of more environmentally-sustainable alternative flame retardant formulations. The work was fully sponsored commercially. Further fully-sponsored work is underway to develop this area.
