A consensus yeast metabolic network reconstruction obtained from a community approach to systems biology.
<28> Metabolic network reconstructions are computational models that translate full genome sequences to biochemical networks. This article is significant because it unified and improved on previous diverse and inconsistent reconstructions of the entire metabolic network of yeast. In addition it formalized the information contained therein through principled machine-readable annotations. This was an international community effort led by Manchester that joined all of the relevant groups who then lend legitimacy to this unification. The network described here has been widely used in functional genomics analyses and simulations, and has since been the basis for further improvements (e.g. http://www.biomedcentral.com/1752-0509/4/145).
