Additional information
This paper reports the discovery of "Rehydroxylation (RHX) Dating": the first method that can date archaeological pottery directly. Since publication, this has had nearly 12,000 views; was on the Royal Society’s ‘most read’ list for 2009; resulted in the first ever podcast to be produced by the Royal Society; and has led to public engagement through the British Science Festival and the Ramsden Lecture. Resulting collaborations include the Universities of Oxford, Belfast, Tel Aviv, Michigan, and California; and the Louvre and British Museum. A NERC grant has recently been secured and a patent has been granted.
