This paper takes a critical view of implementing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems in universities. As one of the first ethnographic studies of its kind within HE the research provided insights into technology’s power to facilitate or constrain changes in organisational culture and surfaces the unintended consequences of such an implementation.
