Analysis of a Conformal Archimedean Spiral Antenna Printed Within Layered Dielectric Cylindrical Media Using the Method of Moments
Antennas within cylindrical structures form an important role within radio communications; for instance in satellite systems. Spiral radiating elements further provide circularly polarized radiation and wide bandwidths, which can be used to combat fading. This paper describes use of a numerical analysis technique previously developed by the authors (see #2) to efficiently design such antenna systems. Novelty is two-fold. Firstly in use of an original analysis technique offering computer accuracy and speed advantages of at least an order or magnitude over proprietary software packages, and secondly in the evaluation of a spiral antenna within a multi-layered dielectric cylinder.
