Additional information

The PDF (Probability Density Function) or CDF (Cumulative Distribution Function) of the effective Signal to Noise Ratio is an important statistical metric in the performance analysis of an OFDMA system using Exponential Effective SNR Mapping (EESM). However, the exact closed form of PDF is extremely difficult to obtain. In this paper, approximations by various distributions are studied, and the results produce a fast and accurate approximation of PDF and CDF of EESM. This is the first paper ever to derive EESM PDF and CDF approximations. This method is implemented in Ranplan's world leading iBuildNet wireless signal performance tool.
