<13> A different aspect of energy saving/performance trade-offs is examined. The emphasis here is on customer defections due to long waiting times. These defections change the model radically and require a completely different mathematical analysis. The paper was presented at the 2011 Performance conference, which is the premier event in the modelling/performance evaluation calendar. Of the 99 full papers submitted, only 20 were accepted and all were published in the Performance Evaluation Journal. Publication led to invited conference presentation at Munich (EPEW 2012) and Paris (ISCIS 2012).
